Hi,

I am wondering how current hosts that use 2checkout and paypal or propay handle signups and billing? How do you have your order system setup?

I am not talking a big expensive few 200plus user system to get started. But a manageable system to get started. I am looking at 2checkout and paypal and propay. How do you set up the signup/order system for each of these methods?

Do you just make a regular form that requests username, password, name, address, email address, phone number, domain used or needed to be register, plan they are ordering, billing method (Credit Card, PayPal, eCheck, Check)? Then you enter them in to your customer database and email them payment instructions?

So if you use 2checkout, after they have filled out your own order form on your site and then you email them a link to go to 2checkouts secure site and register CC info? same for paypal? Or for 2checkout and paypal is it better to just have a button for them to click that sends them to 2checkouts site immediately? If so, how do you get the other information you need to set up the account?

For those that pay by paypal nonrecurring or via check or eCheck, do you manually email them a invoice each month?
Do you send a invoice for recurring billing system users or does 2checkout or paypal notify them of the payment?

What about propay instead of 2checkout? I see they allow you to enter in their CC cards yourself, isn't that illegal if the merchant account is not in your name?

How do you handle it when a customer signs up mid month and is not a recurring billing user, like if they pay by check via paypal or mail, do you pro-rate the service and bill those clients the first of the month or just pay in full no matter what or?

Need advice. Thanks in advance!

2checkout and Revecom are the most popular. Both handle the entire billing process. They e-mail you and the costumer any time it is needed. A lot of people use the e-mail stating that the order was processed to create the accounts manually with. Either of these allow you to put a redirect URL though, which you could start a script that does it for you. It's not very secure though, since people could just enter that URL manually and get your account script. Revecom has a PIN system, however, where it can give your costumers a PIN number to enter on a form on your site. I'm not totally sure how your site will know what the PIN is, but this information is on their website. I went with Revecom because they allow you to adjust recurring billing ammounts, take online checks, and allow you to put custom fields in their order page. 2checkout.com also has it's advantages, though. Look at the many discussions about 2checkout and Revecom on the forums.
