Do they work? I'm thinking about adding one to my hosting service. How many of you have done this and did it increase your sales? If so by how much.
Any recommendation as to how to go about doing one? I'm thinking about doing a two tier with 10% comm. and then 5% comm. on the second tier.
Thanks...

I am just starting a Pay Per Lead Affiliate program. Are you planning on having it all hosted by you or are you using a third party with affiliates. If you plan on doing it, I would recomend you find out which one works better. Both have advatages.

I was planning on doing it by myself. I want to do pay per sale and continious commissions. I am looking at groundbreak.com Ultimate Affiliate program. I like it so far but needs to make sure it works with Hsphere.
What are your thoughts? What are you using?

I have experience both as the seller of hosting and a webmaster which uses affiliate links to make money for some of my web sites.
I think affiliate links do work, but there are a lot of pitfalls. For example, you need to figure out exactly how much you can afford to pay per signup and pay exactly that amount. Pay to little and no one wants to carry your links (ie. you did a lot of work for nothing) pay to much and you lose money on the deal.
Also, you need to have some sort of contingency plan for chargebacks if you are going to go pay per sale. It doesn't matter if the affiliate is the one responsible for the bogus charges or not, you don't want to end up losing money or in the middle of a legal battle if the signup goes bad.
All in all I think affiliate links can bring in a lot of new business with little overhead, I just know from experience it is something you need to plan well before trying to implement.
Just my opinion, Good Luck!

Thanks for the reply and advice. Yes these are all the things that I have been thinking about. What I plan to do is that if a sale is bogus then the affiliate doesn't get the comm. for it. This will be clearly stated on the terms. This is why I need a good software to do this. We don't get allot of bogus sales because our credit card transactions are real time.
We took the percentage route because I think it will be fair for everyone and it will make people want to sell. Every month they will get comm. on the accounts they bring us.
We'll keep gathering advices like this and hopefully come up with a good system that will work for everyone.
Thanks....
