I'm going to customise a desktop for a friend living in New York. Which online store will you recommend that I look at to make custom desktops? :)

Or, a place that sells good pre-customised desktop setups will be good too :D

If you're not going to order parts and build your own, then I'd have to recommend Dell. They're the best value and I do like their support. I own two Dell PCs and a laptop and none have failed me yet (except for one floppy drive which was shipped to me).

I'd reconmend building your own. They are easy to put together.
Here is some places to shop if you do:
....
Newegg.com
Tigerdirect.com
....
Good luck!

I don't know what it's like in the US, but in the UK, the best place has to be local computer shops - small companies etc.

They are top mainly because of their low prices, good support and their ability to put decent parts inside a PC :).

Avoid big companies like PCWorld, Dixons, Time or Tiny :).

I do prefer to customise my own system - gives me more flexibility. So I'm leaning towards any store that allows me to knock my own system up :D

www.gotapex.com has Dell deals listed on their site if you want to go pre-made.

Most of the time, you can get better pricing on one of their deals than you can by building one yourself, especially when you include the cost of a Windows license.

Why dont you want to make your own?
It only takes around 10 minutes.. if even.. to assemble.
If you get a tutorial and its your first time.. you could probably do it in like an hour or less.
