No they're not. In the whole world except the US we use the "," I suggest you adapt :D
I also suggest that before we take this thread totally off-topic we continue that conversation in a different forum, because it could be a looong thread;)

Sorry about that Timdorr. Back to the original topic.
I believe the question was:

does anyone have any experience with z555 hosting?

Yep, they are great :) I talk to the main guy [Sergei] there at least 3-4 times a week. They also host one of my sites: www.automotivebanners.com

Very nice people run it, plus, they know what they are doing :)

They stole this section of text, word for word from tera-byte's old site, (I remember because I had printed off a section of their site one time)

"We offer a wide range of web hosting plans to suit a variety of needs. No setup fees. We currently use Cobalt RaQ 4i servers for our web hosting, which feature a web-based control panel for managing your email accounts, checking your traffic stats, adding users, etc."

I was with them once. The guy who runs it is very nice, but their services weren't what I needed at the time so I left.

z555 offers good reliable hosting. The only thing is that they use Cobalt RaQ's, which you either love or hate (I think the control panel is a little limited, but then that's just me).

311, I went for tera-byte.com and the closest what I could found is:

We offer a wide range of hosting packages that are made to suit your particular needs.
We currently use Unix, Cobalt, and Windows based servers with a custom built interface for each.

The following are the various shared hosting plans that we offer, plus two new starter packages. Please look at the charts to figure out which one will suit your particular needs.

We will also register a .com, .net, or .org domain name for an additional $10US with the purchase of any web hosting account!

So, you can see for yourself whether we actually stole that section of site or not.

If you want to know whether our site has some borrowed texts, it is. Our AUP has some copy-n-paste sections from the policies of our upstream providers, as we are responsible for our customers exactly following rules of our upstream providers.

Now we even edited the text to eliminate any possible confuse that this text was taken from tera-byte’s site and to reflect current situation at z555.com
So Cobalt RAQ’s now is no the only platform we offer. We also have powerful AMD and Intel servers with PLESK control panel. PLESK will be our main control panel, but RAQ addicts still will be able to be hosted on cobalts.

Now we are working on new site and content for z555.com. It will provide much more support information and community forums. It should be released in March.

SoftWareRevue:
I know that there are a lot of people who offer hosting for less. Also there are $2/mo unlimited hosting, etc. We don’t try to oversell, as always there will be a guy who sells the same for less. Our business plan is simple. We just make our plans affordable with prices far below industry average prices and trying to keep our customers satisfied with our service.

I said from their OLD SITE:

from archive.org:

http://web.archive.org/web/20010406154315/raptor.tera-byte.com/hosting.html

anyways i don't really care if you copied it, it's their old site. I was just pointing it out...

It still don't see that we copies "SECTION OF TEXT, word for word".

Now it is too easy to blame almost each company for borrowing something from others.

Just a quick example. Everybody here knows site5 quite well as a reputable professional and creative company. If you'll go to their site you'll see slogan 'HOSTING REVOLUTION'.

If you'll run a search for "hosting revolution" at altavista you'll get 101,862 results for this search.

There are a lot of companies who use 'HOSTING REVOLUTION' in their slogans among them and have sites launched far before 2002 - the year site5 updated their brand identity.
For example doteasy.com have 'join web hosting revolution' on their sites and in each press release, etc.

So, should I now cry that site5 stole it from doteasy or from any other site from 101,862 sites? Or should I say that doteasy borrowed it from someone or ... etc.

I think not as I have NO grounds for it. Everybody understands that it is nonsense. And I would even never bother to check it if I did not see this thread.

Moreover we changed that text when we updated information on our serves. And what now? 167 companies that use exactly the same phrase. And I doubt I ever seen somebody in that search results before.

The thread is getting offtopic and I won’t answer any posts about text borrowing, etc as it can turn into a long flame.
