As some of you know, Looksmart and eZula have formed a partnership earlier this year. I didn't expect it to go through as I figured that Looksmart would be smart enough to pull out while they were ahead seeing the potential dangers of alienating their advertisers but it looks like that is not going to stop them.

The way I look at it is this. With looksmart doing what it is doing, that is sure to get the dander going on with other major players on the net. Before, it was just little ole lonely ezula with hardly any advertisers. Looksmart will help get the big boys upset and we can be fairly certain about the lawsuits.

Pages have been put up dedicated to this Looksmart/eZula deal. You can see the reports and screen shots at:

• Looksmart/eZula Partnership (http://www.thiefware.com/looksmart.ezula.htm)

I'm sure google will not like having their results and top ads hijacked by Looksmart. When a big boy messes with another big boy, it's likely to turn into quite a rumble. Guess we will see how this turns out.

Looks like we ought to renamed them—maybe Lookdumb?

OK, Very good news, I have the new scripts/codes running (yes, there are 3 instead of just one—RidText Pro, RidText Lite, and CSS TopText Disabler). RidText Pro also alerts the user that they are running TopText if TopText puts code into the page. If toptext does not put code into the page, it says nothing.

I have one more refinement that I want to add to that section but that will have to wait but the scripts themselves are ready for launch. The original refresher script is still there if you want to use it. It's the tried and true. The other ones should work very good and hopefully without any snags. I tested them out reasonably thoroughly and am expecting them to work fine.

Get them here: http://www.thiefware.com/disabler/

I'll check here periodically to see if anyone is having trouble with them (don't expect any, but yah never know)

Make sure you install the RidText scripts at the very end of your pages right before the end </body> tag. You want it to execute last.

The new scripts do NOT refresh but actually rewrite the code that TopText puts out or prevents toptext from writing the code to put the links in your pages.
