Hey, as some of you know - all my desktop computers have been converted to RedHat Linux.

This morning I decided to try out Ximian Desktop (http://www.ximian.com) and I must say, it's great! If you never really liked how Gnome looked before, try this...

It includes great applications with it too, and it's a free download of around 180 MB

Has anybody else used it?

err, it looks better than gnome, but from the screen shots I looked at it's got a way to go before it's as sweet as KDE in my opinion :D

Ugh, KDE? What's wrong with you.. :D

*lol*

Ahh it's going to be one of *those* threads huh?
I remeber having both gnome and KDE on my desktop once. No matter how much I dug that little foot, I just kept gravitating back to KDE - that little foot was about all I found pleasurable on that desktop.

I guess I'm too much of a 'clean freak' - love those slick interfaces...

I have to agree. I just don't know what it is, but I just don't like gnome.

I've been running KDE for quite a while and I'm happy. OTOH, I just run the default desktop etc. I don't need glitz. Just a system that works.

That's exactly what Ximian Gnome is! :)

That looks interesting... I think I kind of like t better than KDE and Gnome judging from the screenshots.

Ugh. KDE and Gnome. Both are disgusting. :)

I prefer Sawfish, alone. No "desktop enviroments" that freeze every 30 minutes and take up half my screen, just a desktop with a left-click menu for apps, and alt-tab switching. Anything else is too much.

I'm using Sawfish (but with ximian of course :)). I've never had regular Gnome or Ximian Gnome freeze though.

KDE always split up and distorted the menus on apps, that's why I never used it - and it was very slow too!
