where can i register .edu domains?

We have .ac.uk for Universities in the UK ;)

that's not true! check MCI.EDU ! it's an austrian(europe) university :D

in old days it was allowed, but NOT ANYMORE each country now opens its own .edu.kw for example or .ac.xx :mad:

Why do some organizations have .edu domain names even though they do not meet the eligibility requirements?

The Cooperative Agreement between EDUCAUSE and the U.S. Department of Commerce specifies that all .edu names in existence as of October 29, 2001 are "grandfathered", regardless of current or past eligibility requirements.

Yeah, Singapore is using .edu.sg now. .edu is only available to American accredited academic institutions.

And cegetel.edu ! Cegetel is a french telecom company and they take an edu in 1997 when I work for this website... Not active anymore but the name is registred yet.

I think you can actually register .edu names but you have to provide the registar required documentation showing that you are an educational institution.

4 years educational institues and in the USA otherwise you can't as pe rthe new rules.

I remember a few years ago when someone managed to register hacker.edu! Pretty funny when you think about it.
