I need to put one of my already hosted sites onto it's own IP address. The server has 3 spare which are registered to it already. When I go to change the IP address in WHM it tells me:

Warning: Changing a site's ip address may cause it to appear down from some locations until the dns has propgated to all nameservers on the internet.

I don't want any downtime. The nameservers wont be changing and the IP is already on my server, is this just a general warning just in case or will I suffer downtime?

Cheers.

You shouldnt see any downtime as the server is already hosting the site right? You're just telling future visitors that it is "here" versus, being "here" already. If you were changing IPs, versus just adding an an ip it would be different. Since the site is already hosted on that server, the nameservers aren't changing, you're just changing where the server knows the site to be, not the outside world.

That's what I thought would happen! Thanks for confirming. :)
