Hello

4 days ago a customer signed up for a hosting account with my company and asked us to register his domain name too.

I usually use registerfly.com for domain registration (obvious: it is cheaper and customers have heared of $10 domain registration and do not accept more than this).

Then I went to registerfly.com and registered two domain names. After a day first domain worked very well and came up in whois but second one neither came up in whois nor their interface was able to set a name serveron it. It issued an error "domain does not exist". I went to their support ticket system and submitted a ticket.

They assigned it to someone and from that time its status has remained "Assigned!!!!"

Then I understood that they will not register it until next sunday therefore I went to stargateinc.com and registered it again there (you see it was free for registration).

Everything was ok and I registeed domain and it showed credit card purchase confirmation. But when I tried to login into control panel it said ID and Password is not correct. ( I tested ID and password on a new domain registration and it worked for adding another domain to my profile ! so it was correct).

Most important, confirmation told that I must receive a registration confirmation email but I have not received anything yet !

I tried their forgot password link and it said "Domain name does not exist !!!"

And this time I went to starrgateinc's ticket system and guess what... I have not received anything , even a ticket openning notification from stargateinc yet.

And someone please tell me how I can have a good service when my service is effected by these bugisterflys and starbugincs ?

We dumped stargate, We had many experiences like this , specially in case of domain transfers , Generic whois would show that domain is at stargate, stargate whois would show nothing, obvously the account login did not work

It took 10-12 days to sort it out ,

Its a pity, we registered over a 100 domains with them and are not using them absolutely,

Can I ask which registrar are you using now?

Thank you,

Thats's what I thought at first. Until I discovered that domainnames sell just fine for $ 16.95 also.

So I charge $ 16.95 and sell several each day.

Hello Mac.

We are regularly using dotregistrar.com , Their prices are good, have a very nice reseller API , Their systems are never ever buggy like stargate,

So far 150 domains registered from them with no problems,
Their support is slow but you do get replies in 48 hours, But as long as things work fine you will not need support,

System problems dont happen there,
I remember in stargate, for one domain they told us that the registration info has been somehow deleted for the domain and asked to give registration info again,

What if someday the domain itself would get deleted :D

I can also recommend opensrs which is better than this also but they are more expensive than dotregistrar.com so you cant sell domains for 10$

It's time like these when I'm so glad I'm with OpenSRS.

Mac, if you want to be a serious seller, then go with a serious and PROFESSIONAL company. Check them out at www.opensrs.net

Kind Regards,

Penny

Lalaweb

Thank you, I will try them. I will try to install their API on my site.

I think 000domains.com is their reseller. Is it?

If so I am sure I will be able to have a good quality.

Hello
We use Stargate and OpenSRS.

I have found both to be equally good.

The problems with the Stargate system disappeared when they stopped including .tv and .cc inthe domain look up.
When they added it back in the problems came back.
I have a good feel for how their system works and can sense when there is a problem.
I think if you keep hammering away when their system is not working correctly odd things can happen but if you lay off it comes right.

I keep asking if anyone has tried www.dotregistrar.com ?
They allow domain deletion within 72 hours!
ANd they have .biz and .info at the same low price.

I contacted them and was offered $6.39 per domain year based on buying 2000.
Not worth moving for the price saving but for the ability to register .biz .info at a reasonable price it might be worth a look.

OpenSRS is very good, but stargate allows us to provide a product at a price which makes it fairly unique and helps
us capture a niche market.

Finally after a week, registerfly has answered my support ticket.

Just look at their reply:

PS: I have registered two domains in one transaction and one of them works properly and their $19.98 charge for two domains has appeared on my online statement.

-----------------
I cannot find any charge for this domain. If you feel that you were charged for this domain, please open a credit card inquiry. Make sure to list all information including card number , domain, ect.

--------------

Those who want to pay and want their money to disappear go to registerfly and give your money to them :D

Thanks Manish
AT least I have found somebody who uses them and finds them OK.

I have committed to another month with Stargate and will continue to look at Dotregistrar.

..try their online chat. I've found that usefull. However, given the different time zone that I am in that usually meant staying up till 2am just to get issues resolved

cheers!
