Hi all,

not sure if I've posted in the correct section, but my question is does anyone know normally how banners work?

Example:

An online book store is starting and approaches website owners to display the book store's banner as a form of advertising. Like what some hosting companies are doing here at WHT

Is there a standard fee for something like that?

Thanks.

That would depend on the content of the email. If the bookstore is just starting out and are running an affiliate program, they should give you a tracking code that displays their banner. Then if your ad makes sales for them, they pay you a fee as agreed to when you signed up.

If they just want you to display their banner because your site is popular, then you should charge them $xamount. Do you have a copy of the email you can post? That would give us a better idea of what you want to know. :)

Thank Anon... just not that good at explaining.

Basically a friend is starting up an e-store to sell books. Now lets assume she wants to advertise her e-store at a few websites eg WHT (i know its a bad example)... what do you think is the way to get this going? ie. Should she pay WHT a fixed amt of $$$ per mth to have her banner displayed or paid per impression/clicks etc?

btw the e-store is not up yet and still in the planning process thus wanting to find out one of the advertising cost :)
