I'd say diginode.com looks to be a very good provider. So far their sales team has went the extra mile for me and I am going to be ordering from them soon. :) bdsnyder 06-11-2004, 07:07 AM Originally posted by bdsnyder Just wondered if anyone knew of others I could review. LT-Trel, thanks, but I'm NOT looking for ANY reviews..... But, since you mentioned diginode, let me state that I feel that they have a VERY misleading statement on the opening page of their website that states: "instant OS install (with 20+ OS to choose from*, installed in 5 minutes), " * Fedora Core 1 & 2 Red Hat Linux 7.3 & 9 CentOS 3.1 SuSE Linux 9 Debian GNU/Linux 3.1 Linux Mandrake 10 Arch Linux 0.6 Gentoo Linux 2004.1 Trustix Secure Linux 2.1 SoL 18.0 OpenBSD 3.5 FreeBSD 4.10 & 5.2.1 DragonFlyBSD Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 Solaris 9 Windows XP Professional Windows 2000 Professional Windows 2003 Server ------------------------------------------------------ After questioning SALES about autoinstalling WINDOWS they responded: "We are working on that system." OK, then WHY have it listed ???? inception 06-11-2004, 12:50 PM dinix (http://dinix.com) is pretty sweet sawbuck 06-11-2004, 02:17 PM ServInt is by far the best choice for VPS solutions. BobFarmer 06-11-2004, 02:23 PM I believe that only UML based VPS services can support this feature. Virtuozzo-based VPS products support only Linux OS installations. Trimax 06-11-2004, 02:31 PM i think that they are the only 2 providers that offer such feature. bdsnyder 06-11-2004, 08:53 PM Originally posted by Trimax i think that they are the only 2 providers that offer such feature. Thanks, I've done ALOT of looking and I think you are right..... ALSO, For those of you who mentioned OTHER VPS providers, I am interested in ONLY those that offer what I mentioned in the TOPIC, the ability to automatically install a fresh OS from a list of DISTRIBUTIONS (mainly Linux) using a special control panel...... I actually have a VPS account with Servint, they provide GREAT service and Bob Farmer is always VERY helpful !!! But, I am ALSO looking for a VPS plan to PLAY WITH by using the AUTO INSTALL feature of the OS, so I can take a whack at something knowing that if I break it I can reload the system myself. I could setup a system here at my office to do the same thing, but that would not be as much FUN :D Steven 06-11-2004, 09:22 PM I love my JVDS vps! Rus is very helpful. Qu1k 06-12-2004, 09:49 AM www.linode.com is great - I'm not sure how it compares to diginode, but we've been very happy with linode since we signed up 9 months ago :) Trimax 06-12-2004, 03:50 PM Oh yea.. Just thought of another one.. http://www.bytemark-hosting.co.uk Check out the rootfs command in http://www.bytemark-hosting.co.uk/tech/adminref.html I believe that they have 4 diffrent distros. http://www.bytemark-hosting.co.uk/vmhosting/distros.html Bytemark Linux is actually RedHat linux :) |
