Try to make a new site, recommendasite.com.

I have no clue how much space will need for this site, hope to find affordable host and tech support.

Please suggest some ideas, appreciate much.

Here's my design concept:

Internet is an information jungle, one can hardly surf 1% of the net in a life time.

The best way to collect useful, reliable, beautiful or helpful websites is to rely on surfers.

We provede this site for anyone to recommend a site, as a gift from you to all Internet users.

To recommend a site, simply click the related category and fill up the form.

Please let us know why you recommend that site within 100 words. Your personal imformation is optional.

form

1. site link:http://www.????.com

2. why you recommend: 100 word max.

3. your info optional: name, email, website.

Yeswebmaster, thanks a lot, your site is cool.

Good day all, some thoughts to share and some ideas need feedback.

What surfers need the most is good information.

What webmasters need the most is traffic.

I hope to find a way (make a site) that gives surfers good information also generate traffic for webmasters.

This down to recommendasite.com idea, my new thoughts is like this, no one knows a site better than its webmaster, no one needs traffic more than the webmaster, so only webmaster is allowed to recommend a site on recommendasite.com.

Plus if you recommend your site you have to put a banner or text link on your home page as: Recommend a site.

This is kind of tough to be accepted by webmasters, but in fact that's the only way to generate traffic, you send all your traffic as every other webmasters send all their traffic to share, therefor each listed site gets more traffic.

Suppose we see a lot of Recommend a site banner on a lot of sites, we might want to put one on our own site.

How's the idea sounds? If it's OK what kind set up or design you suggest? How much hosting space will be needed?

Appreciate your support.

Search engine market is kind of a hard market to break into, and what I see that your suggesting is pretty common. Alot of people try to do that. Maybe you can take a look at a lot of search engines like DMOZ, yahoo, etc, and see what they don't have, that you could. that would make your site special. Like you said, the internet's huge, and what people like are new ideas and concepts.

Good luck with your venture.

ebo, thanks for the feedback.

What I see the differences are:

1. if a webmaster put a link as recommend a site to yahoo, he will not gain traffic from yahoo. But if he put that link to my site, he sure will get some return traffic.

2. My site is kind of like a traffic generator, everyone send traffic in the site, from there one visitor might check out many sites.

3. Yahoo etc has too many sites and too many categories, maybe surfers like something more simple.

Joe,
I'm not saying that this is what you're doing, but I got seriously burnt by so-called 'traffic generators'.
When I had hostinggroup.com referenced by Lycos, there was -on Lycos- a link to ineedhits.com that, supposedly, would have my site referenced on all the good search engines, for less than $10.

What it really did is very different: it registered hostinggroup.com with 'traffic generators' rings; basically the purpose of these is to share traffic, just like you mention it.

Believe me, the result couldn't be lousier, and I get spam all the time.

:(

I really hope you come up with a much better concept than theirs! :agree:
