Hey everyone, I know a similar question has been asked before, but this is different enough to warrant a new thread.

I'd like to know which you think is better, and why (what does one have that the other doesn't?)

Also any problems you've run into if applicable

We will be getting one of these soon, but we'd like to make an informed decision.

Thanks =)

Hey,

Before, in ModernBills early stages it didn't look so great, but it's looking amazing now. It is certianly comparable to Ubersmith, if not better in some ways. I can only judge from the demos I have seen though.

Modernbill is clean, easy to get around. It also has neat little features like the domain expiration checker/notifier. I like the signup form you can use, I don't know if ubersmith offers this?
Ubersmith does have a ticketing system, which modernbill doesn't, though I think i'd prefer to use something like PHPSupportDesk for that anyway.

Overall, Ubersmith is cool, it's hosted for you, all totally secure, whereas modernbill is in your hands, and you wouldn't want any customer info leaking out. Then again, that extra bit of security comes at a much larger price.

(woohoo, 200 posts)

Go With ModernBill

We tested both, and I still cannot understand the hype for Ubersmith .. darn thing is so unfriendly.

I've been researching the options as well, and will be making a decision sometime this month. Right now, we're leaning toward ModernBill, as it costs FAR less for pretty much the same features. I like the added security Ubersmith has, but then I hate relying on a third-party solution (I've had too many go out from under me with the dot com crash).
