Is the Webhosting market saturated? More offer than demand?

Do I think it is a good time to build that muti-zillion dollar NOC the size of 13 football fields and lay pipe? No. Is there still room for web hosts? Yep.

I agree. Six months ago there was way too many big guys. Now
that some of the big webhosts have went under that will allow
some more small to medium webhosts to grow and startup.

Humm, yes, but at the same time I am seeing ALLOT of small guys and resellers goign down becuase they can't take it to the next level

If I would have to do this business for the money.... I wouldn't. There are too many resellers out there.

Well crap, now where to sell my football fields....

I think finding customers just from the internet is getting harder and harder. But if you are a reputable company and clients say good things about you they will come the hardest part is the first 100 or so.

I guess the business would continue and the market would grow....
However, the hype and overspending would end... No more "We expect profits after 3 quaters...."
Just those with a good business model would survive.
But's that's true for every business.... :)

I don't think that there are that many GOOD web hosting providers out there. Room for plenty more.

The only future that I worry about is will we be prepared to offer IPv6 and whatever technology will come after HTML and XML.

Are we prepared to host the virtual reality technologies that will come next?

Data is data no matter what facade you place in front of it. :)

The real question I would be worried about is, will you be able to understand the new technologies enough to keep your customers informed? I imagine so, good web hosting companies weren't created out of ignorance.

IPv6 is so slow in making its way out there that I'm not sure it'll ever actually come to exist. Taking a wild guess I would think the most requested features of the future will be SOAP services. But I think this will initially be limited to JSP/Servlet and .NET providers.
