I think right now they're almost completed with all the different languages it'll port to. On the current version of phpBB 2, there has been a database scheme freeze so if you use the pre-release version now, it'll be upgradable to the final release.

I'm using it on a new site (wouldn't use it with an existing site - porting data across might get lost)...

All in all though it's working out quite well. Couple of annoying bugs like the cookie sessions getting lost but otherwise it's a good board.

Oh, but word of warning, the current SubSilver theme looks great but it's a cast iron bugger to customise if you don't know your CSS, HTML, Javascript and PHP...

Yep, I'm using it. No problems so far.

I actually built my before RC-1 (pre) so I have some db updating to do. That's my x-mas break task.

I've never used phpBB. I've never really liked the "look" of it and from what I've seen, phpBB2 looks much cleaner and better.
