I was wondering if anyone knew of a registrar that I could send my clients to that does not offer hosting during sign up or follow up emails. Godaddy used to be my register of choice, but I realize they now offer hosting.

Thanks!

Not sure, but you can consider offering domain registration yourself. You can sign up for one of many reseller programs.

www.dotster.com
www.stargate.com
www.alldomains.com

I'm sure there are many more.

Try www.enom.com.

If you do the registrations yourself, you can give your users access to their accounts through a non-branded access site. If you use their dns, a Whois will still turn up ns1.enom.com, etc.

However, your question was whether they try to sell hosting to your clients ... never happened with me, and I don't think they do that.

Don't give 'em any ideas. ;)

Yes I should start considering this, but wanted to know where I should send them in the mean time. Thanks!

Doster unfortunately did a team-up with some company (hostway I think...). I hate it when registrars do that.

www.just-the-name.co.uk

it's a uk company - saw it in the back of .net magazine.
used it, it's very good service, but pricey.

Dotster's partnership with a web hosting company has affected our business. In the past, they listed us on their web site as a web hosting company for their domain name registration customers, and we got a lot of referrals from them.

Now, that's gone. But can't hold it against them, because they were nice enough to do it in the first place.
