View Full Version : Helpdesk Help!!!!!!!!

We need a GOOD Helpdesk solution. We have about 5 techs (adding more soon) and need something that can coordinate support requests between everyone. The one we have now is basically just a database with email capability.

Ideally, the helpdesk would NOT require users to login - but would track calls by Ticket Number. Not sure if there is even one like that. If not, we can live with a user login.

We're getting desperate. Every one that we have looked at so far is either buggy beyond reasonable use or just plain featureless. I'm thinking that $200 or less should be a reasonable amount to spend.

HELP!!!! THIS IS URGENT!!! NEED IT YESTERDAY!!! :)

I've been playing with PerlDesk (http://www.perldesk.com) for a few days and I'm really starting to like it. It's feature complete, quick and still in very active development. Best of all, it's free. :)

Yes, I have tried Perldesk as well and really like it. Nice layout and good features. However, for some strange reason some pages just doesn't work on a RAQ ( well problem is CGIWrap ) so I think I will turn off CGIWrap on the Perldesk library.

We use http://www.deskpro.com/ with 19 users. It's fast and the only web based ticket system I have found that had all of the specs I required from the start.

There is another thread that ask the exact question, you may want to take a look at that.

Also, phpwebsupport is pretty good, you can find the link in the thread I mentioned.

I'm not sure exactly what you're looking for feature wise, but RT (http://www.fsck.com/projects/rt/) fit the bill for what we were looking for.

I've only worked with the 1.x version. No time to look at 2.0 yet.

Bought it, wasn't able to use it. It will be decent, once all the bugs and other annoyances are worked out. It has great potential - but we couldn't use it in its current state.

Can the design be cutomized, because what I see doesn't really look that good. It's big and the color scheme is not that good. I like PHPsupportdesk, because it's simlple to use, and lots of features.

$795 for the software? Pretty high for what it does. Especially when there are lots of free ones doing the same. Just my 2 cents.

Interesting, I personally know the developers of Perldesk and deskpro ;)

One of the main reasons we chose DeskPro is that it is very very customizable. You can edit the graphics and layout very very easily. If you compare the features and functionality of DeskPro and phpsupportdesk you'll see that DeskPro comes out way ahead. I like Kunal the developer of phpsupportdesk, but I must say that DeskPro is way ahead of the game.

In my opion, both products are very well written and are very good. The thing is though, one is free and one is $795 but the free one those everything I need it to do. Now, support plays a big roll. If something goes bad and you need imediate help, will you get it with the free product?? That's the million dolar question. For now, I'm with Perldesk. I think it does plenty for the price. I saw deskpro and wasn't really convienced that it should cost $795. Look at phpwebsupport script, it's only $100 or so it that one is very well written too.

So like I said my vote is in. Perldesk. Good work John.

ticketsmith is a very good free alternative.
I wonder why nobody suggested it.
It's very simple and to the points... Really good to work with.

Also deskpro is cool.

Have a great day :)
