i'm giving csoft.net a good look and i may go that way for hosting. looks as though i have lots to learn if i'm going to manage my domains there.

any good or bad stories from encounters with this company??

had problems with them for awhile. but overall they are a fantastic web host. they offer so much, and it os fantastic. for the price i have 12 domains up with them, and it only costs 25/month. had problems contacting them once, but found out that one of the people who worked there was having problems himself. but it was all figured out in a couple of days. the uptime is great, and they are always working on upgrading the software. things run smooth as pie. you get full control over a whole lot of things, and that can be good or bad. depeneding on the person.

how about when you first started with them, any problems?
i uploaded some simple cgi scripts and they won't work.
tried everything...

you got to make sure that when you chmod your scripts that they are chmoded 700. not 755 and not 777. only 700 your scripts will work fine. and make sure that you uploaded them in ascii mode
