Hi There,
Is it worth it to go ahead and purchase vBulletin and setup my new forum or should I first try out the free Software like Snitz and if the forum starting getting buzy, I should than upgrade over to vBulletin?
Do you think there will be a lot of work doing the transfer?
What do you guys think?
Thanks,
Linda

If you plan on spending a lot of time marketing the forum, i would go ahead and purchase vB or use phpBB, Invision etc.

WebWiz also has a few. It depends - are you PHP or ASP? I have used both in the past - been extremely happy. Also, http://www.forumcrafters.com might be able to help you out

I don't think there is an upgrade option for Snitz forum to VB. But you should first check at vbulletin.com if they have an auto importer for this.
You should definitely work on building your community before spending the money. Upgrading can be done at a later stage when you get consistent forum activity.
I started my forum with IPB and moved to VB after about 6 months with regular forum activity. The upgrade process took quite long, about 1 hour, but it went without hiccups. :)

There is a drawback for the transfer as well. You will definitely
loss some of the users with the transfer to the new forum. But you will also lost the old content in a way - by becoming inactive, the old forum content will be lossing value for the search engines.

I know a little of ASP but no PHP or Mysql. Is it going to be hard to install VBulletin without the knowledge of PHP and MYSQL?
