View Full Version : Amazing day for sales?!?!?
AH-Tina 12-05-2001, 11:10 PM We just had our biggest day in sales...BUT, it was such a huge amount of orders...that I'm absolutely shocked!!! I know the stock market improved GREATLY in the last 24 hours - could this have accounted for this weird, yet wonderful, increase??? Christmas spirit? Anyone else notice this?!?
We not only had alot of new signups, we had a record number of renewals as well. Heck we had people renewing that weren't even due for 2 more months!
I'm not bragging....well...okay, I am...but I'm really trying to figure this out!

Annette 12-05-2001, 11:22 PM Haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary, no. Every day is busy and has been for months on end, with occasional spikes over averages.
cmoats 12-05-2001, 11:41 PM Hi Guys,
We don't fully understand the increase in sales either, but we are happy. We have had an increase in our virtual sales and well as our dedicated servers.

Shiekron 12-06-2001, 12:44 AM You know it is the good ol Christmas spirit.
UmBillyCord 12-06-2001, 01:38 AM We just had our biggest day in sales...BUT, it was such a huge amount of orders
What do you call "huge"? 5 new orders? 150?
AH-Tina 12-06-2001, 01:44 AM Close to 50 new orders plus alot of renewals. Our average is about 10 new orders a day - 20 is a REALLY good day.
Keep in mind we are not advertising at all right now. One minor thing, that probably has nothing to do with it, is we changed our webpage top "logo" graphic yesterday. The one we have now is much more professional looking than the one we had.
It will be interesting to see if the trend continues tomorrow.

Don't have it up yet - but it will sure come in handy. Our support staff is looking forward to seeing your helpdesk in action. We have high hopes!

Jedito 12-06-2001, 03:02 AM Today was a normal good day.
A good day to us is 3 sign up.
Our better day ever was 7 sign up.
But, in the past week and this, we have a lot of people comming from montly billing to annual.
AH-Tina 12-06-2001, 03:07 AM Do you think the stock market improvement has anything to do with this influx of new customers? Several aquaintences of mine seem to think so.
Personally, I can't wait to see what tomorrow brings in.
BTW - Do you all find that Wednesdays and Thursdays are your big sales days? I've noticed that trend for the past year. Not always, but overall.

Jedito 12-06-2001, 03:16 AM Personally I saw that our biggest sales day are in week-ends.
I wonder way, probably because people have more time to surf the web. But now sure either.
AH-Tina 12-06-2001, 03:20 AM Actually, thankfully, weekends are slow around here. Since its very hard to find support staff that wants to work weekends - I generally hold down the fort by myself.
It's more than managable on the weekends alone...but I would not want to attempt it during the week!

NetXL 12-06-2001, 04:04 AM 10 signups avg/day
I need the jawdrop smilie again :)
That's a lot of accounts over a year, congratulations
:stickout
hilda 12-06-2001, 04:58 AM Strange how customers respond, we had a great month in October, a good one in November, but so far December is not too good moneywise, signups are steady but a lot of monthlies instead of annuals. Of course monthlies are good too, they add up over time. And although we advertize, most new accounts are from referals and repeat customers.

How long have you noticed this average (across how many months)? If this is recent, what was the average before that time period?
Lonny 12-06-2001, 11:01 AM have you launched any special campaigns? check the logs to see where the traffic came from..

About a year - and about 1/2 that the year before....and about 10 a month the year before that. Before THAT - not many at all...maybe a few a month. We focused on dialup accounts early on.

Peeps 12-06-2001, 11:16 AM So, you're averaging about 300/month for the past year? You should be around 5500 clients, give or take, at this point, with the numbers you've provided. Interesting.

Nope - absolutely nothing new. The logs and the customers are telling me that they are finding us the way they always have....word-of-mouth mainly and hostsearch and one other method that shall remain my secret. :)

Weekends are much less, I didn't include those in the "average" - I just assumed M - F.
We're at about 3000+ customers right now.

universal2001 12-06-2001, 11:21 AM 50 signups is quite a lot!
However, are most of them signing up to your $25/year plan?

No, actually we don't get THAT many signups for that package. I think the reason is becuase its webspace, one email and FTP only - no "extras". All of our other packages are full-featured.
Our most popular package is our $99 per year.
BTW - I was hoping to get feedback on trends from other hosts too! :)

Frosty 12-06-2001, 01:57 PM I know one the the "secrets"...i bet AffordableHost and MCHost get a ton of signups from this forum......MCHost says he only gets 2% from here...that is probably....BS.

Not at all. Most people here are other hosting companies. Those that aren't - want 1000000 GB of space and 10000000000000 GB of bandwidth for only $1.49 a month. I don't even bother reading the request forum anymore.

11 new signups so far. Looking good. I think I'll go Christmas shopping tonight. :)

Gurudev 12-06-2001, 03:28 PM 10+ signups a day is very good. I know she must be getting a lot of those leads for signups from search engines and it is because of the "domain name". A good domain name + a good service always works very well. Affodable web hosting and combinations of it are few the most searched words by people looking for web hosting. Her web site is #8 on Google.
Congratulations, Tina!
