At one time (a year ago maybe?) HostRocket, Terabyte, and Site 5 (and several others that I forget) consistently had positve praise. Some of these formerly good hosts seem to have "gone south".
I'm wondering what's the current majority opinion of who the top good hosts are? I'm hoping for a short list of maybe 5-10.
I am particularly seeking the advice of Chicken and all the old regulars around here who have read all the posts and really know what the majority opinion is.
Thanks!

F5hosting seems to be getting lots of good reviews, as well as aletia hosting.

Ventures Online continues to receive good reviews, so don't forget to mention them. :)
I've seen a few bad reviews of Site5 here recently, although they do have A LOT of clients, and the more servers you have, the more likely it is that something will go wrong...

Usually people will mention the bigger hosts if you have to make a list.
But what about the smaller hosts? I am sure there are a lot of smaller or midsize hosts than can easily beat the bigger ones in price and service. ;)

See my sig. They are the only two I recommend out of several dozen that I've tried and the hundred or so I've investigated. I used to recommend Aletia as an ok, but they're going through some turbulent waters at the moment.

I'm a Site5 customer and not unhappy; although when there are persistant problems with any hosting company, even I start to cast a net around to see who else is there to meet the need in case a move is in order.
They continue to demonstrate that they care about their business; sure there are some customers that have been affected by some issues but in the end it will not surprise me if one or two of these same customers are in fact part of the problem.
People talk a lot about hosting companies; what I'm interested in is not only a good hosting company (Site5 still fits the bill for me in that department!) but also good mutual clients - i.e. if you are on a box with one or a number of "bad" clients running poorly designed applications or ill-behaved cron jobs every minute -- well even a great box, great hoster, is going to look poor indeed.
On the Site5 private forum I've posted a few messages on the "Shared Services=Shared Responsibility" theme, and was pleased to hear a number of other users chime in with their support.
But I suspect that its more commonplace for users to want the world for their 10/20/30$ a month, unable to understand there are finite limits on what a box, with other users, can do.
