I have decided to use either enom or opensrs to register my domains. I will also be setting it up so my customers can register/transfer new domains on my website. What company would you recomend?

Chicken 12-05-2001, 03:08 PM Hmmmm, well if you think you'd like a community of users and a pretty solid system that everyone seems to like, then I'd go for OpenSRS. On the other hand, if you are more interested in saving a buck or two, then enom is a decent runner up. People also seem to like dotster, though I've never used their system personally, and I'd also explore godaddy (not sure what they have for resellers), but that name seems to crop up as a top 5 registrar often. ebo 12-06-2001, 12:42 AM I voted enom. I think that alot of people have voted for OPENSRS because it is much more familiar around these forums. I have registered over 120 domains for clients through enom, and they could not have been greater. Never down, never have any problems. I couldn't speal for their support, because I've never needed to use it. I'm not sure if OpenSRS provides this, but I love enom's little virtual bank feature. You just deposit like, $500 or so, and then as you register domains, it takes away $8 everytime you register a domain, so your not constantly getting bills. I love it. Just my thoughts.. Hope this helps :) MotleyFool 12-06-2001, 01:36 AM I have used enom in the past 2 months for close to 40 odd domains and I am more than happy... [I operate thru resellers here who give me a domain at <8$.. but their regn and domain management page takes me to access.enom.com thru a frame] I like their DNS service which would enable me to move from one server to another with virtually no downtime I have no experience with OpenSRS.. You can also try directi.com Cheers Balaji Chicken 12-06-2001, 02:37 AM Originally posted by ebo I couldn't speal for their support, because I've never needed to use it. Well I have and can tell you that often it sucks beyond belief. Sometimes you don't get a reply, but if you find and email a couple of people directly you have better luck. Forget contacting Matt Stern. Grog 12-06-2001, 09:38 PM I have about 20 domains with eNom. Their DNS rocks. I have found if you have a problem and send them a mail, *IF* you accurately describe the problem and provide all the info they need they will get back to you fast! P.S. Billy and Brad in support are great! Again, if the sole body of your email is "my domain not work fix it" you probably won't get a reply! Félix C.Courtemanche 12-07-2001, 03:54 AM I would vote for OpenSRS. We have had a lot of business with them through 000domains.com They never let us down, never had any problems. They are fast, easy to use. It is probably not common, but 2 customers had problems with their enom.com domains when they paid for the second year (i.e the domain was deleted anyway). multipleimage 12-08-2001, 07:07 AM have i left out any companies here that offer reseller domain registration? Chicken 12-08-2001, 12:55 PM Ummm, yeah a bunch, but I'd go to the ICANN'T site and lokk for the registrars there or post a new thread asking what registrar hosts use. Hope this helps :) Personally, I'd rather keep my money in my hands as long as possible and get the bill for the service as I use it. If you really have extra money that you enjoy having people hold for you without giving you any interest, let me know. I'd be more than happy to hold all the money you want to give me. :D Nicholas Brown 12-08-2001, 10:50 PM OpenSRS Ive used enom for the past 2 years one way or another, but have just recently started using OpenSRS - what a refreshing change! :D Domains (seem to?) propergate faster with OpenSRS too ;) Franky 12-17-2001, 01:26 AM Originally posted by ebo ... Is $8 the price they sell it to you when you first apply to be a reseller? Or do you have to stay with them for quite a while and selling quite a large amount of domain names? Or perhaps you negotiated the price with enom? Sectorlink 12-17-2001, 11:59 PM We have been using OpenSRS for 3 years and have registered many domains and never a single problem. |
