up2date was working on my red hat box yesterday but all of the sudden today when I run it I get
Traceback (innermost last):
File "/usr/sbin/up2date", line 18, in ?
from up2date_client import clap
File "/usr/share/rhn/up2date_client/clap.py", line 12, in ?
popt = __import__("up2datepopt")
ImportError: No module named up2datepopt
I tried to manaully update the up2date package with rpms but it still gets the error.
Any ideas on a fix?
Thanks

up2date was broken with the 7.0 redhat release if thats what release you are using (it works when it feels like it). Did you try to completely remove the up2date and reinstall, or just update it? I would completely remove it and start fresh.

I am using 7.1 and I renamed all up2date files so they were recocnized and tried running the latest RPM update. How would you go about the complete reinstall?
Thanks

I get the same error and when I want to reinstall it I get the following;
root@host [/home]# rpm -i up2date-2.7.11-7.x.1.i386.rpm
error: failed dependencies:
up2datepoptmodule.so is needed by up2date-2.7.11-7.x.1
root@host [/home]#
Where can I get up2datepoptmodule.so ?
LATE EDIT: I found the module at http://www.rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/search.php?query=up2datepoptmodule&submit=Search+...
(btw. http://www.rpmfind.net is a site to bookmark!)
I installed this and then I installed up2date-2.7.11-7.x.1.i386.rpm again and now it works.
This looks very windozian to me ;-)
(then it works, then it doesn't)
