Just an advice for those who are thinking of using PlanetPayment as their merchant provider... Their customer support service sucks!!

It takes a week to get a reply from their customer support team..
(e.g emails sent to customer-service@planetpayment.com)

I sent in a request to enable American-Express on my account.. A week later I get a reply "Sorry, because you are not located in the United States we cannot enable AMEX processing".. I figure.. what the hell I'll email someone else there again.. A week later another support person says that he has put in a request to enable AMEX processing and it should be ready within 7-14 days...

WTF, who's right? can I or can't I enable AMEX?? This just proves how lame their support team is...

Late Payments.. Slow customer service... I call them up and the guy :argue: who I was speaking to was clueless..

Why does it takes them 6-7 DAYS to answer a simple support message???

If your looking for a decent solution, try someone else like sfcommerce.. They may have less features, however they don't screw you around like PP. They should rename their business to Pathetic Payments.

At least they get back to you. I've sent messages to charge.com and have never gotten a response. Go figure. Not sure what the problem is there, but... (no I didn't attempt to call them however).

Just a thought.. Worldpay is really good. We have had a very good response from them always.. They even ring us up here in India all the way from UK to follow up a problem...

Have a great day :)

I need a new merchant account provider. I've recently setup an account with Planet Payment but their support is the worse that I have seen.

However, I could deal with that if I didn't recieve the recent e-mail about their account increases.

Discount rate: 3.95%

Per Transaction Fee: US$0.35

Monthly Fee: US$35.00

Each additional acceptance currency is subject to a further US$10 Monthly Fee.

They were priced high before but this is just getting ridiculous. From unlimited acceptance currencies to $10/mos for each one?

Can anyone recommend a good merchant account provider for someone located in Canada. Ideally, I'd like to use the authorize.net payment gateway.

I have looked at Worldpay and am considering them but they don't use authorize.net. Planet Payment is the international authorize.net reseller and that's what causes the problems.

I may also consider setting up a US bank account.

Thanks.

Sfcommerce.com is a Canadian company, although they don't use Authorize.net payment gateways, they transactions rates are lower than PP.

I'm with them now, but also looking for an authorize.net payment gateway.

I was thinking in get PP, but after what I read, now, I'll wait.

I loooked into Sfcommerce as well. I found the rates were great and it would be good to deal with a Canadian company. The main reason that I didn't choose them was because they didn't have recurring billing options and this couldn't be achieved through third-party billing software because they also didn't have a common payment gateway.

Planet Payment seems to be the best solution as far as features but there rates and customer service are extremely poor. I've recently sent a complaint about the price increses. Maybe if everyone does the same they'll bring them back down. Then again, maybe they're getting so big that they don't have to care about the customers.
