Check out http://www.rackshack.net/support/setup/dedicated.asp

Assuming you are the RaQ admin, it is REALLY easy - - just login and look at the menu's and you'll figure it out.

If he doesn't have a domain name (and you know him, I wouldn't do this for just anyone), then you can:

Set up a subdomain off one of your sites on a shared IP.
Set up a bogus domain on a dedicated IP.

Are you going to give him a dedicated IP address? If so, you can (as I said) make up a domain...

Hostname: mickey
Domainname: mouse.com

This will limit him as far as email goes. You can try username@his.ip.add.ress -in theory that works, but I've never personally done it.

Shared IP will have to be run off a domain that you own, I can't think of a way you'd do it without using something.

Coatsy:

I assume you own a domain name - yourdomain.com. Follow the set up instructions in the URL above to create a new virtual site on the raq, and for hostname use "yourfriend" instead of "www".

What you will end up with is www.yourdomain.com being your website and yourfriend.yourdomain.com being your friends site.

You will have to make sure you have the correct A records in your dns:

yourdomain.com ==> your IP
www.yourdomain.com ==> your IP
yourfriend.yourdomain.com ==> your IP

Just to be clear - you will end up with TWO virtual sites on your RaQ - the one for www.yourdomain.com (also yourdomain.com) and one for yourfriend.yourdomain.com.
