View Full Version : Acceptable Turn Around Time

For people who are colocating, what do you think an acceptable turn around time for getting some rack space setup is?

I placed an order with a highly recommended company for 1U of rack space to try them out and 100 GIGs of Transit. I faxed in the contracts to this company (I am not going to mention who) last Thursday afternoon and was told it would be setup in 48 hours. 1U is not a lot of space but I explained to them that I am in a rush and need to get a server shipped out to them as soon as possible so the quicker they could set it up the better. Of course, they do not have to move faster so I don't hold that against them at all.

It is now Tuesday afternoon though and well over 96 hours (not counting the weekend) and I have still not heard anything about my rack space.

Am I being unreasonable expecting to have heard something tangible from them by now? I did send them an email which they replied to on Monday and all it said was that they usually have it setup in 48 hours but it gave me no idea as to whether or not they are actually working on it or have a time frame for it to be ready. How long does it normally take in your experience for them to assign you a rack space so you can ship the server out to them?

I don't think you're being unreasonable at all. If they told you 48 hours, then 48 hours it should be. If not, then an email informing you of a delay would have been called for.

I have one or two guesses who this is. Sounds familiar. :)

You're not being unreasonable at all.
If they told you fifteen minutes, then that's what it should be.
Although there are tangibles that could affect the speed at which they do business, if they can't do it by when they tell you, you have every right to expect an explaination.

I guess you must send them a mail or ring them up and ask them why this problem is there.
Have a great day :)
