View Full Version : How can we start accepting CC payments?
bmbsa 06-03-2004, 08:24 PM Most of hosts in Saudi Arabia don’t accept payments using credit cards. This is because the E-commerce is something new in here and there are no companies that provide this kind of service in our region.
As you all know, PayPal doesn’t accept new registrations from our country. 2checkout doesn’t always accept credit cards from our region and they terminate every account owned by an Arabic person after some time for no reason. They don’t trust Arabic people. We have had some issues with PaySystems and their checks are not always received.
If you were in my situation, what will you to for your small web hosting company to start accepting credit card payments?
Thanks in advance

Tho I dun accept Card Payment, but you might want to try askign authorize.
radsgan2000 06-04-2004, 03:13 PM I have recently signed with TransactIndia.com and so far they have been good with their service and easy in integration.
bannerdepo 06-04-2004, 05:56 PM *.
openXS 06-05-2004, 12:18 AM *.
Whats that ? Trying to increase your Post count eh ?
radsgan2000 : I dont think TransactIndia would work for UAE Users.
There is a new gateway opening in Kuwait that I'm aware of.
This should easily cater for people in the middle east.
Thanks
gavin
IntraHost 06-05-2004, 11:09 PM You might want to try CardService International. We use them and they are one of the largest payment processors in the world. They might have solutions for you.
DevilDude 06-06-2004, 01:46 AM terminate every account owned by an Arabic person after some time for no reason. They don’t trust Arabic people.
I have a hard time believing that.
radsgan2000 06-06-2004, 02:33 AM What is the main reason why Arabic ppl face these problem? why 2CO doesn't accept account from Arabic ppl? Why there is no familiar arabic gateway? wondering why.....can arabic ppl deal in USD? meaning can they have their account in USD with their bank?
salehwar 06-06-2004, 03:43 AM I live in Kuwait... I saw some companies in Kuwait use merchants programes to process customers payment... They ever uses our local credit card Knet..
but I don't know how they did that!
2CO must comply with Patriot Act and OFAC regulations. A google search will provide you with a list of countries/ regions.
cdgcommerce 06-07-2004, 11:19 AM One other thing to keep in mind is that Visa and MasterCard DO have programs for non-U.S. merchants, offered by banks in those respective regions.
These programs are not always as competitively priced or as favorable on the terms, but they do exist.
That is one reason why U.S. merchant processors are only allowed to setup merchant accounts for U.S. citizens/businesses. So it isn't a matter of "wanting to" or not, there are regulations that must be followed and rules that really can't be bent or broken.
And on top of that you have the compliance requirements from the Patriot Act that Tom mentioned above. Merchant processors in the U.S. are required by law to abide by those rules & regulations.
Bashar 07-06-2004, 07:28 AM the only 2 options that worked for me after years or research is paysystems and 2checkout, although paysystems stopped accepting international clients, so its like only 2checkout nowadays.
some people said ikobo accept international clients which i never dealt with.
74s3 mind to share which company/bank you're talking about? because the only option in kuwait is NBK national bank of kuwait but its really hard to work over the internet since they dont have any security options like AVS system or so and kinda risky to handle it over the internet with em.
i have a merchant account with them which i use for phone orders only and manual transactions but not over the net.
Bashar 07-06-2004, 07:32 AM forgot to mention worldpay.com too, but i had very bad experience 2years back which i got huge amount of chargebacks and got my account suspended and still paying back the money i owe them
salehwar 07-06-2004, 07:53 AM How to get merchant account from NBK ?
I was searching how to get from them but no luck
Michael McKenzie 07-06-2004, 09:17 AM I think Merchant Acounts 4 Less might be able to help. They were able to open an account for a guy in Israel which I think would be considered the same region. You can contact them at sales@merchantaccounts4less.com.
webhost933 07-06-2004, 11:41 AM What about a local bank? Could you get a merchant account or something with a local bank?

DediFast 07-06-2004, 05:58 PM Im having the same issue and looking for solution.
I live in UAE and do web hosting for living.
I forced to sell my clients few times because of processor issues.
Paysystems - Signed up for paysystem 4 times but everytime they say they don't accept new customers. they did not refunded any of my setup fees yet.
2co - Signed up for 2co about 5 times. The account will work until payout date and then they suddently close the account for no reason and without any notification. they refund all transaction inclusing setup fee (at least 2co refunds the setup fee!)
I don't know why they close my accounts. I check every order manually, call the client, check the signup IP, etc... no sign of any fraud. most of my clients are from US and UK.
Ikobo - Account setup, client paid, all proper documents, ID card, bank statement, passport copy faxed. they closed the account... they don't offer merchant service for my country.
Payquake - Paid $399 (international merchant account)... They didn't setup the account till now. (more than 2 month) im looking for a chargeback at this one.
Pay-Line - they send cheque (not wire transfer) and it seems they have some issues right now.
Plimus - They are very friendly and nice. very expensive compared to others. Hard to work with thier system and im not sure if they offer what im looking for. If anyone is using them, I really want to know how is thier service, how do they pay and are they reliable?
Ibill - Signed up few times. "I am sorry to inform you that iBill is unable to process Visa transactions for Merchants outside of the US or the EU due to new credit card association regulations."
CCnow - Accepts tangable products only.
ClickBank - not what im looking for.
VolPay - I chatted with the owner, very nice person. they accept international and they payout weekly - 499 euoro setup :bawling:
ProBilling - Mainly adult processor. Sent all the requested application. still no response (more than 2 weeks) and its bit expensive.
WorldPay - They don't accept my country at this moment.
StormPay - My country not accepted.
ProPay - "ProPay only accepts applications from residents of the United States of America"
VeroTel - Very Expensive. START UP VISA/MasterCard registration costs USD 1,500.00 YEARLY Registration costs USD 250.00
CCBill - My country is not accpetd and its mainly for adult.
I tried every other processor mentioned in WHT and other places with absolutely no luck.
Now you can imaging how many processors I tried and failed.
There is a solution in UAE where you can get merchant account, but you have to have registered company within the UAE and you must open bank account at National bank of abu dhabi, National bank of Dubai or National Emirates bank. and you have to use the ettisalat gateway called ComTrust. I opend a bank account at National Bank of Abu dhabi, but I don't have a registered company. and I know it will cost me a lot to complete the process and it should be very expensive and does not worth it.
So, any other suggetions?
I just want to accept credit cards on my website. THATS ALL! :(
Have you tried tyler@volpay.com he actually funded by a company in Kuwait so i'm sure they would accept business from the Mid each.
Thanks
Gavin
DediFast 07-06-2004, 06:54 PM VolPay - I chatted with the owner, very nice person. they accept international and they payout weekly - 499 euoro setup
VolPay is ok, but 499 euro setup fee is way too high compared to others.
DediFast 07-06-2004, 07:24 PM Just contacted tyler@volpay.com
Hope he can help us with the issue.
will let you guys know.
cdgcommerce 07-06-2004, 08:10 PM I spoke with Tyler and have chatted with him in the past. He's a good guy and will treat you right. And as far as the setup cost goes - that's just a one time cost.
Bashar 07-07-2004, 03:15 AM worldpay accepts countries in gulf area just choose UK branch and it would work for you.
it worked for me in old days and i've seen so many companies using them in middle east
regarding volpay you sure it was founded by a company in kuwait? because i never heared of them in kuwait!
DediFast 07-07-2004, 05:53 AM Bashar,
Tried to sign up from UK website. but the signup process is handeled from main website.
"We are sorry, but we are not currently able to take on merchants which are based in the country you have indicated."
What if I entered my location UK instead of UAE? will they accept me?
Bashar 07-07-2004, 05:55 AM well i dont know, 2 years back i said i'm from kuwait and want to signup they directed me to UK site
its 'WORLD' Pay they should accept the world
salehwar 07-07-2004, 06:09 AM any solution for Middle East?!
What's going on!
Basher,
They're were not founded by a company in Kuwait. Tyler was saying he was working with a Venture Captial company in Kuwait. We were joking on the fact that he'll get extremly sun burnt when he does down there for a week.. I hear its like 45c there :)
Gavin
Bashar 07-07-2004, 07:06 AM 45 in shadows its between 50s and 60s in direct sun :D
salehwar 07-07-2004, 07:09 AM So our only solution is cashucard.com
Bashar 07-07-2004, 07:36 AM yeah cashucard is an option too
from what can i see 2checkout can do the job nicely too
Allah 07-09-2004, 03:04 PM In the name of Allah the Merciful the Compassionate:
I'm from the Arab Peoples Socialist Jamahiriya (Libya) and do online credit card processing thru Verisign. Somewat expensive, but it works. They accepted me from my country.
salehwar 07-09-2004, 03:08 PM COOL ..
Here in Kuwait some companies use Verisign too,,
I dunno how but they use by it some local credit cards ..
Allah 07-09-2004, 03:14 PM Is the starter of the thread from Saudia or UAE? If from UAE, most internatonal banks are well represented there, and with an account at one of those banks, Verisign should work allrigt. That means that the matter has been solved...
