Are there any cons to using Redhat Network to apply patches and updates to your Redhat Server?

I've been applying all of these manually but it seems that the automation of Redhat Network can free up a lot of valuable time.

Is there any risk to using this? I know it adds one more backdoor to your system but I trust that Redhat is aware of this and on top of any potential security risks.

It seems to me a perfect solution but I haven't seen any talk of it at all on here.

Thanks,

David Delisle

if you can get it to work it is great. i know there were a lot of bugs with the redhat network when 7.0 came out. Im sure they fixed it by now though:rolleyes: maybe:D

Hi!
You can easily go ahead with the plan.
The redhat network is a cool way to update the system. The only risk is if there is heavy library specific dependencies for certain software running on your box.

Have a great day :)

Thanks for the comments.

I've been trying it out for the last week and it seems to work alright so far. It definitely won't work for everything but to handle basic patches and updates it seems to work fine.
