Hello,
I need all the suggestions anyone has on how I would be able to get some fast Internet access to my house. I think my 28.8 connection (I live in the country) is starting to drive me nuts.
I think I have thought of all the options, but I'm hopeing someone will prove me wrong. To start on the list:
- 28.8 with AOL (use currently :( )
- 56k not possible where I live
- ISDN expensive (and not available, I think)
- DSL (I live about 10-15 miles from town)
- Cable lines stop 1/2 mile (seriously) from my house, and cable company quoted me for around $20,000 to extend it to my house
- 1-way satellite (old DirecPC) has high latency and requires a dialup (which is limited to 28.8)
- 2-way satellite (new DirecPC)...tried it and ended up being total opposite of what I thought it was going to be (took 2-1/2 months and 7 visits from an installer to get it to finally work...and I'm the one that fixed it)
I have thought about wireless, but I don't really know enough about wireless networks and the possibilities to try it out.
Any suggestions? I'm starting to get desperate.
Thanks.
Troy
