Anyone heard of them? I hear they have some pretty good prices on a dedicated servers but they don't seem to have a site up at the time? Does anyone have any info or experiences with this company?

I have a server with them.

If you do as the above poster says and use the search, you will come by some posts by me.

Basically, Serverhost/Plusweb/colorackwhatever are the same company run by Jeffrey (jkehe).
The network is with cogent - which isn't bad IMO - bursts of 2.47mb/s as opposed to VO's 487k/s to the same server.

I was hit with loads of hardware issues when I got the server in August, and it wasn't until October when it was useable again.
Also, a few weeks ago, Cpanel license expired on my server on a friday - wasn't until the monday when it was working again - so there was a lot of time I couldn't access WHM to add new accounts nor could users access their Cpanel - VERY annoyed at that.

When the server works, it is great. Can't fault the speed of it - but if you get one, make sure u know what you are doing with the server as there is a hefty tech fee of about $170/hr.

Often times we'll do simple things for free or very little cost. The $175/hour rate on tech support is primarily for on-site service.

well, I mean..

If the ACTUAL linux server, is online, and running, I believe thats what you call a "server that works"

if software isnt working correctly, i wouldn't count that as "server isnt working"

I do business with ServerHost/Plusweb and have for years.
I've never had problems.

Because our companies are in the same city, we do short-term business back and fourth all the time.

We also buy hardware from them from time to time.

Can't comment a whole lot on the servers they lease out, though. Just know they have a lot!

Not if that software is supposed to be part of the server they're selling.

Heyo,

I'm with Serverhost as well. I did have some substancial downtime a few weeks ago but after it was sorted out things have been just great.

As with WIldWayz, I get good speed.

It amazes me how downtime is so acceptable and network latency is so acceptable.

You must be at/own the one NOC that's never seen a second of downtime or sluggishness, wow.

I would agree that down time is "normal" unfortunately at almost every site. They may claim 100% uptme, but as long as humans designed it, there are LOTS of strings attached. Down time is part of life. Like sleep. ;-)

I can guerentee we have never had any downtime, WE use only high quality yarn for stringing together our 2 communication devices (styrophone cups). You know how much it costs to lay yarn?

If you have any kittens about, I imagine it is pretty cheap.
