Hi all,

this is an urgent request.

Can someone find out if M6.NET has officially passed away :bawling: or are they facing difficulties?

I have not been able to log onto M6.NET or www.iwebaudio.net (my site) for the whole of today (03/12/01).

If anyone can help me find out then I would really appreciate it.

Kind Regards

imi.

I'm in Canada...

You should try traceroute, which will give you more information than pinging.

First try it from your own system -- just type "tracert m6.net" at the DOS prompt (if you're using Windows).

Then try it from a remote location such as http://www.network-tools.com/ ... This will give you another reference point. If you can't reach the server from your own system but the traceroute from the remote location is okay, then the problem is likely on your end.

Good luck!
Rehan

Sites are fine. It's the Support that's dead. I've sent numerous support request five days ago with nary a reply other than that autoresponder.

Tsk.

Actually I found out that there was some sort of outage to the UK. when I initially instigated this post I did not know what hit me as I could not get to the site for the life of me!

Anyway I am finding that M6.net is great, they have answered all my questions promptly and efficiently.

Thanx M6.

Natural, it seems like you have had a bad time getting in touch with them this is odd. I suggest you persevere, they are good hosts.

I would suggest to all who post here that we could be more careful with what we post and particularly the headlines. Although, the original poster did follow up, the initial post had way too much shock value. There are better ways to ask the same question. For instance, a simple, is anyone else having trouble reaching m6.net today (or whomever). The words dead....out of business, etc...once said still leave a taste, regardless of how one takes them back. This is a forum for assistance and information and while it is fine to express opinions based on experiences, having one's facts together is very important.

Note: this is not aimed at the initial poster of this thread, but just at all of us in general. Our words can cause damage ... so we should value them accordingly and use them appropriately.

Lecture over.

I'm using m6.net for over half a year, and I find that it downs 2 times for several continuous days in both Dec and this week (it's up now anyway)

Up till now I still can't use my statistics (though they provide log files but it's much better if they provide charts), need to call support to change directory permission as their control panel don't support this function.

They do have efficient support but tend to avoid queries like server down. And they change their package (like reduce Network transfer rate) without prior knowledges.

I feel a bit disappointing although I know I shouldn't expect much for that price. I think I will switch to other hosts later on.

Ps. I'm not saying m6.net not good, but it's really stupid to use free statistics service in addition when you are paying for a host.

I have had the unfortunate experience to be with M6.net for about 4 months or so. They totally lost all of our email when they switched over to a new "improved" version of their email software. Thankfully, my partner and I had local copies.

For the last day and a half I have not been able to access the email through the web front end (iMail). This happens about every other day, though I can get my mail through Hotmail or from Outlook Express.

Now, all of our email has disappeared again! Needless to say,
we are moving to another hoster as soon as possible. The technical support is truly awful (in my opinion). They give a toll free number to call but it goes right to an answering machine. Their email support often returns mail saying that the customer number, user id and password are missing or in the wrong place (some sort of automated email processing system), when it actually is all correct. So, the technical support often doesn't even get my mail!!

M6 is definitely a hoster to stay away from (in my opinion).

Everything expressed above is my opinion, except for where I can back up with facts.
