I read a lot of posts here that Registerfly is pretty speedy. Well, I've been waiting over 48 hours (what they say is max time) for my DNS to be updated and nothing. I've submitted a support ticket, too ... nothing.

Anyone have any advice for speeding up Registerslug's process?

Registration is usually 72 hours max. and it is on BUSINESS DAYS ONLY! :)

Hmm... would be nice if they'd stop saying "48 hours max" on their site, then. I was under the impression it didn't matter what day of the week these things occurred on, that it was sort of a round-the-clock process. Their site certainly doesn't say "M-F, 8-5 only" or anything of that sort. :(

DNS changes don't care if it is business days or not :-) It's all automated.

That's what I figured. It shouldn't be so slow, then. And I can't get a response from customer support either. Man, this place is as slow as molasses. To make matters even more confusing, at least for a newbie like me, is that within an hour of applying for the DNS change, I got an email from Registerfly saying the changes had been performed, and my account info at Registerfly also shows my nameservers as the new ones. Gee, talk about misleading.

Nameservers update at like 5AM and 5 PM on Monday-Friday I thought. hmm...

So what causes the huge delays then? There's been five updates since I submitted my request. And they STILL haven't responded to my help request. My patience is totally shot. I notice there's no phone number ...

What happens if I do a chargeback on my credit card and attempt to register the domain with another company? Will I be able to get the same domain name?

You could try searching for availablity at
http://www.register.com
If it is still available you can buy the domain from any other more reliable registrar.
It usually takes only 48 hours for a name to be registered.

Registerfly finally answered my support request, and is now insisting all the settings are correct. Yeah, whatever.

I spent so long researching companies! I read every single thread here about choosing a registrar, and all said only good things about Registerfly. :(

I found out their phone number is a dummy; it's just a recording telling me to use the email or support ticket system. That's even what they have on their Whois. I think this is a one-man show.

if you're talking about DNS propogation, you also have to take into account your ISP updating it's DNS servers.

it's anywhere from 2 - 5 days for me. the last change i did, all the updates went through the following day, however, my DSL provider didn't update their DNS cache until almost 2 days later. now that's a pain in the tush.
