I am pondering over something here.
google doesnt see the text in flash. (as far as I know)

but does it see and follow the links?

If site A is a flash site.
and site B is not a flash site.
google will see the text from site B but not site A.
and if a link is placed on site B to site A, the google bot will go after it.

but if a link is placed on site A to site B, will google go to site B from site A?

:buck:

I hope that it doesnt, I have an idea.

My guess is it wouldn't see the text in Flash, but you can link .txt files in your webroot to your swf files and build the URLs dynamically. So why couldn't the GoogleBot do something like that? Eh? :D

Yes.. A downside of using flash for links is that the links do not get recognized by all search agents.

Thats why its always good to show flash, but when it comes to linkabllity it should be text..

Peace

erm, now I'm confused.
recipher said that the links are in fact found by the google bot, and followed... you say they dont.

which is it?

I'd much rather like it if the links would not get recognized. that way, I could add links without suffering from a PR drop. :)

i checked out googles help page and it said:

Fact: At Google, we are able to index most types of pages and files with very few exceptions. File types we are able to index include: pdf, asp, jsp, hdml, shtml, xml, cfm, doc, xls, ppt, rtf, wks, lwp, wri, swf.

so it looks like they can index flash.

Yes
http://www.google.com/webmasters/facts.html

But that means that they WILL index mainpage.swf,

but "Best Hosting Solutions" inside the flash will never be indexed, even with a billion visitors.

You should only use it if you do not need many customers, or else you just have to trick the bot using the tricks

Peace,
