Hi guys,

I have a RaQ3 with 512MB RAM, and just noticed it's using 64% of total memory. Normally it runs at about 19%, and the highest I've ever seen it until now is 29%.

I haven't installed anything new which would have done this, and haven't suddently added any CPU intensive sites.

I rebooted, expecting it to return to 19% or so, but it was still at 64%.

How can I find out what's using so much memory?

I have about 35 virtual domains about 50 users, and CPU usage is usually at 0 or 0.1

Telnet in, type "top". This will show you a list of what is running and how much memory and CPU it is using.

Thank you. Is there anywhere I can find a way of interpreting exactly what all those figures mean? There are some minus numbers in there, which don't seem to make sense.

When in "Top" type "h" to see a list of available command options - you can have it show you all kinds of info, such as the full path to the command.

Try typing man "command you want info on" to see the manual page for that command, or you can do a websearch for the command name and see what you can turn up.

Or you can do what I did and post here about specific processes :)

I would suggest picking up a linux administrators handbook. I know the one I have has come in VERY handy!!

Thanks Mark.

I will try all those things. Do you happen to know the title and publisher of your handbook (or even the isbn #).

I think I'll invest in a copy.
