Is it possible to run windowsxp professional as a production server ? I think it can better manage memory than w2k server. Is there a 10 webserver connection limit like w2kpro ? There are 10 FTP and 10 SMTP connection limitation but I don't use these services. Only thing I need from IIS is asp.

I'd be concerned about disaster recovery (i.e., the need to move the OS to different hardware) and the product deactivation "feature" of XP.

Although there is no XP "server" out yet, initial tests of the kernal, etc. show that it's about 4x slower than W2K in heavy stress tests.
I think W2K will still be a better solutions when XP arrives, but that is just my 2 cents :)

I'm sure even Microsoft would not do that.....
:)
If you are serious about uptime. Wait.
Have a great day :)

There is a 10 connection limit on all IIS services (and many other services) on 2k and XP Pro - so it wouldn't be much of a server.
I'm not sure where you got the information about memory management from, because my experience of both OSes shows the exact opposite. 2k Server had slightly better management (as should all server OSes), though there was very little difference between the two.

10 connection limit on all IIS services I think that is an old NT issue that is no longer valid on W2K and XP.
