Have you tried some of the 'Travel' sites? You could go to travel.com or check out some other travel portals and see where that gets you.

Where are you going from and to?

Depending on where you're going, the discount companies like Canada 3000 (http://www.canada3000.ca) or Royal Airlines (http://www.royal.ca/) might help. Also, Air Canada (http://www.aircanada.ca/) is having a seat sale at the moment.

It really depends on what you expect from your airline as far as quality of experience and all that - I hate flying, so I'm not the best to ask (as it's all bad :-) )... but I can say that Royal airlines have the oldest, most decrepit planes I've ever seen. Not exactly confidence inducing...

Yep, check Air Canada, and also they american airlines like Delta, US Air, Continental, etc.. They also have flights out of major Canadian cities and chances are their prices are the same if not better than Air Canada.

Or just call you local Travel Agent and tell them you want the cheapest ticket from A to B and let them do the research.

Priceline does not let you originate outside the U.S

Cheap, airline, and Canada in the same sentence?! Ha! :-)

Generally speaking, there aren't many deals available. Depending on your origin and destination, you may be able to use the lower fares from discount carriers like Canada 3000, etc. or use the weekend fares from Air Canada/Canadian Airlines (when they have them...): http://www.bestfares.com/internet_charts/air_internet.htm

If you think $500 is bad, I'm paying CDN $1300 to go from Toronto to NY this week (client is covering the cost...for my day job, not web hosting related). On the other hand, I went to Florida last year for CDN $139 with Canada 3000...so your mileage may vary. :-)

Rehan, I just had to deal with the same situation as you... If you don't stay over the weekend, Air Canada pulls out the naughty flier whip and really makes you weep...

I needed to go into NY for the Nielson/Norman Usability conference mid-November, which runs Monday to Wednesday... and the ticket was $1500 <urg>

If I went Saturday night and stayed over the weekend, the ticket was $300. How's that for complete idiocy?

Sounds good to me. I could think of lots of things to do in NY on Sat/sun with $1200. to spend.

You would be better off driving to Buffalo and flying from there. That is crazy.
