I was looking at the ebay auctions and came across this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1303702953
Basically it's unlimited bandwidth, 5 gig of space, unlimited domains all for $19.95 a year.
What is up with this?

How they can offer it? Easy. They can't.
It's not 5 GB of diskspace they are offering. It's 50.000 MB of diskspace. That makes it 50 GB's of diskspace.
And all that for only $ 19.95 per year.
WOW!
Hmm, besides, what serious host would sell accounts on ebay?
You calculate your hostingprice based on your cost and add a % for the profit.
You don't sell it to the highest bidder. That is a business plan that is sure to go down the drain.

It is probabley a scam. First of all there is no such thing as unlimited bandwidth and second of all the cost structure doesn't work out.

My guess is that he's running the thing off his home computer and DSL line, and he's trying to make enough money to pay for the DSL line.
I found the copy describing the services in several places:

I bid on a better one last week, $1, unlimited bandwidth, unlimited space, for 1 year.
Was gonna point my raqbackup.sh script at it and see how long till I got booted from the server :) If I didn't get booted in a week or so, was gonna setup a script that ran while I was asleep DOWNLOADING IT to my home computer until I woke back up and turned it off.
But, I didn't do it, there is a VERY long story about all of this. It's... funny, and sad, no not really sad, just funny, the more compassionate among you might feel a bit sad, who knows, but it is definitely funny.
And it shows what a small world we live in.
oh and here you go:
Domain: Gotos.com
NAMESERVERS:
195.10.228.174
193.130.95.174
Domain Name: DONHOST.CO.UK
Domain servers listed in order:
NS1.DONHOST.CO.UK 193.130.95.100
NS2.DONHOST.CO.UK 195.10.228.132
Why is it everytime I see something like this it's Donhost's resellers?

Well that or fasthosts, but yes I tend to agree. I got bitched out for saying DonHost weren't any good once so I just don't do it anymore... but there they are again. :)

Heh, I just saw the signature :D No comment on the actual thread topic
Is it 50G transfer monthly or annual?
If it is 50G Transfer total then that 50,000MB space can be downloaded once.
Also If it is a total 50G transfer we can calculate it as (50G)*($2/gig) = $100 !!!
