Hi all,

Anyone using Opera 6 here? I found that it's much much much faster than IE and Netscape. It's only 3.2 MB in size.

Their multi-browser in one window is also good.

I already use it as the defeault browser. I will only use IE if there is special need. Oh Netscape, forget it :-).

I've been using Opera for a while. I've been running the 6.0 beta for a couple of weeks and I just (literally) downloaded the 6.0 release version.

Opera is fast and, unlike MS Internet Exploiter, secure.

Oh yeah, they just release the 6.0 Final, I got to get it now :o

I used to reboot around every 1 hour. But since I change to Opera, I don't even need to reboot for a whole day.

Opera is quite neat on Linux and BSD too...
I however prefer Konqueror....
That's real cool and developing real fast... :)

Have a nice day

Hi,

it's good to see that Opera is getting some attention, I would really like to see a browser that can kick MS in the bu**.

Netcrap has really gone down the drains, I used to be a real Netcrap fan and just didn't want to install Exploder but what to do? Today, I hate to admit it, that browser is the standard browser. Hopefully, with some help, maybe Opera can become what Linux is in the OS war.

Imagine, as a developer, only need to do a site that is compatible with one (all) browser... I have a dream...

forget about kiking IE. because its cool in performance, opera is secondary browser. and since IE comes free and default with MS WINDOWZ it is the first choise for people.

also IE is more cool in features and navigation etc is also cool and it is made to be compatible with MS application and developer platform which OPERA is not.

however OPERA is cool browser and i have 5.xx installed on my system in case my IE crashes or refuse to browse the web site ;)

I think Opera 6.0 is also cool. I change my default browser to Opera and in case if any site don't accept it, I use IE 6 to surf it.

Opera is much faster and use much less memory. It can also open open many site in one windows.

my ie is getting crashed without any reason and i need to wait for around 70 seconds to create a log for it.

so now most of the time i will be using opera and not internet explorer.

ie sucks. :smash:

Opera 6.0 is such huge improvement compared to their 5.0 release. They are definitely going in the right direction. However, I still prefer IE 6.0 over Opera 6.0, but you never know what might happen in the future.

I can think of a few things that could cause IE to crash like that:

1) You're running Windows95/98
2) You have installed/uninstalled A LOT of games and programs
3) It's been a while since you formated your drive and got a clean install of Windows (which is almost same as 2)

I don't know then. I'm running Windows2000 Pro myself and I've never had any problems with IE. Actually, I install a lot of games/programs and my computer is on 24/7 (I reboot once every week or two). How much memory do you have?

For some who run Linux, Opera is welcome alternative to Netscape. But then, for most of those who run Linux, using an OS that they find to be truly "user friendly(1)" is a welcome alternative to the... errr, umm... "features" of Windoze. ;)

(1) User Friendly OS - An OS that works the way you (the user) wants it to work.

But I suppose all of these sorts of personal likes and dislikes are the reasons behind why they make both Fords and Chevys... (and a host of others, as well)... ;)

Actually, I'm thankful we *do* have to design Web pages for more than one browser. If everyone on the planet looked the same, thought the same, talked the same, walked the same... and so on... it'd be a totally BORING existance! ;)

I downloaded Opera 6beta the other day, but haven't tried it yet. Will do so in the near future, and hope it's still doing well. I'd tried previous versions, and though "ok", it didn't sway me away from my tried and true: NetCaptor. NetCaptor is, deep down, an IE-driven browser, but beyond that, you wouldn't even know...it's the most powerful browser I've known. Like Opera, it allows multiple windows, but in a "tabbed" format! Extremely handy. I almost always have a bunch of windows open(10-12 right now), and just flip back forth among them. I really couldn't stand browsing in a single-page format ever again. Sure, you can open multiple instances of IE/NetFlake, but Netcaptor does it all in ONE application and just tabs away. You can also save "groups" of pages as a single link, have popup killers, etc. All kinds of cool stuff. I know this probably sounds like an ad, but I'm just a firm believer in the application. It used to be "adware", but just recently switched to just shareware.....a move I'm not overly fond of, but oh well. I'd gone for the "pro" version a couple years ago, and it's definitely a great browser. If you use IE, I'd HIGHLY recommend checking it out. Netcaptor.com is the site.

Getting back to the thread at hand; I hope Opera DOES make a big splash and move forward. It was a very good browser when I last tried it and I'm looking forward to trying the new version as well! Glad it's got plenty of followers....the "little guys" need support like that!

PS....I have nothing "formal" to do with Netcaptor....I'm just a VERY satisfied user of the application, and think more people could do more if they used it(or something like it).

Take care....
Michael
