I always seek to find new providers and better services for web hosting.
I started with www.thenerve.com which was good the time I found it but after some months I noticed the first endless downtimes. I should repost the same message over 3 times or more to get a reply and the same problem (of downtime) was there again after few days. I lost my emails and I don't know how much of the reputation for my site. Left the network when I realized the situation hadn't any future.
After many months I saw they increased their prices but the old price was the only appealing feature I found when I joined.
My Overall Points : 3/10
Next was www.tera-byte.com. Now this is a real good service. As everybody say in this forum I'm one more to say that tera-byte.com is very good. I have a shared hosting account with them for 2 years or more and I'm very satisfied. However the last 3-4 months I noticed huge downtimes (from 33minutes which is quite normal to 11 hours !!!). I have my email to mydomain.com and forward it to a yahoo account to be sure that I will get my email on time.
My Overall Points : 9/10
After some months of tera-byte.com hosting I was attracted from www.cwihosting.com and their plans. Big mistake. This was a nightmare for me. Five days later I received the username and pass to handle my account the domain name hadn't the right setup to their servers. I didn't know then what was wrong so I started posting support requests to their support ticket system. Most of them were deleted without a reply. Others asking me what was wrong even I explained to them the problem. Others saying 'we don't see any problem'. I found a solution after 42 days when I was lucky to find a man who knows about dns issues and told me that 'the problem i found is that they have declared in NS records the IPs of Name Servers. At the NS we declare always and only the name of the servers. Your domain is working because of the version of BIND you use. The Zone File follows which is setup in a query to the primary Name Server…'. Anyway I send them a request (3-7 emails) to leave their network and after 2-3 months they refunded my money. I visited them today to be sure I wrote correct the url for this post and I saw the BBBOnline seal. I lost my confident to BBBOnline once and for all.
My Overall Points : 2/10
At the same time when I signed with tera-byte.com I found another host provider from a friend of mine www.4cheaphosting.net
At my first visits I wasn't so sure and I said no I will not join.
The reason I said no was because I read their faq where they say that they have support only for issues related to the good condition of their servers and because I saw they are hosted to hypermart
Accidentally i bumped again to my friend and asked for this issue and told me that he hadn't any problems with them.
So I said ok after all I had someone close to hit (my friend) if my choice wasn't right.
I'm glad I did. I'm at the same time as with tera-byte.com (about 2 years and some months) and their net is rock stable for all these years.
I didn't have any problem with the communication or their support.
Their replies for any issue are between 5min-12hours
You can send them a message stating how severe it is (for example extremely urgent or asap) and you get a reply in minutes. I didn't have any problems with them except once that erased by accident my master account and I couldn't get into my site. My problem was solved in 3 hours after my support request. They allow you to setup mods with the nt server if you tell them what is this for and request from them to use it. Their control panel is not so great or has good look as cpanel but it does the work very good. They show great interest for the customers (at least for me). They are cheap enough with 69$ for the first year and 105$ for the second year (I subscribed also to automatic se promo). I believe that they are not just a hosting provider but a network of internet services or something like this but I never tried to find out. I'm only interested for my site(s) and even if they are associates with Molder at Xfiles I don't care at all. For me my choice is www.4cheaphosting.net By the way I wrote them for this board and I think I saw them also here before some days.
My Overall Points : 10/10
Closing I want to say that according to my experience when you test a wpp for over 1.5-2 years you can have a stable opinion about the company and the network.
My suggestions are :
1. www.4cheaphosting.net (Excellent) = Overall 10/10
2. www.Tera-Byte.com (Very Good) = Overall 9/10
3. www.CWIHosting.com (Stay away. They need many lessons to internet maintenance) = Overall 2/10
4. www.Thenerve.com (If your nerves are strong) now I believe they have a name of qwebservices.com= Overall 3/10
I hear also VenturesOnline.com is good but never tried it.
I would be glad to hear from people they have experiences from their web presence provider for a time period over 1.5-2 years only
With this system I exclude new providers but I'm sure that users will appreciate comments from people they already offered good services and 2 years is a proof of their good (or bad) services according to my opinion.
