Quick question I went to rackshack site, I am looking to start a linux hoisting company and I noticed they offer 300 GIGS on an intel machine with 1 gighertz and I was just curious how can they offer three hundred gigs for 99 bucks a month. I have been pricing bandwidth at several other sites and on most sites that would cost $3.00 x 300 GIGS = $900.00 a month.. that is crazy.

okay, then how much do they charge for additional bandwidth, I don't see anyplace where I can modify and create a custom setup. This would be a great asset with me since I am expecting 500- 1000 customers and plan on needing at least 10 gig of bandwitdth for each customer

I think its part of their policy to not charge for overage. They oversell their network capacity to acheive those kind of prices, though, I think.

I've used rackshack for a while now and no complaints, didn't get charged when I used 500 GB in a month. :) But if they do charge you I think the new price for overages is $1.50/GB.

While we have typically ;) OVERLOKED :D excess bandwidth consumption in the past, it is our official policy to charge for overage although we have not done so as of yet.

My original idea was for unlimied bandwidth but I thought better of it and came up with 150 Gb, then 175, then the 300 gigs of included bandwidth.

Just to be clear, it is our oficial policy to charge for bandwidth that is used in excess of the allocation at the rate of 1.50 .

Rackshack's AUP (http://www.rackshack.net/aboutus/aup.asp) doesn't say anything against it. Also I heard from someone with them, that they do allow it.

I had a Raq and now I have an Intel 1Ghz 512MB machine at RackShack that I really like. The folks there are always real nice and always polite and always maintain a cordial and extremely helpful attitude. They actually want to do a good job and seem happy doing it and it shows.

Their new facility looks like the Taj Mahal in Texas and I believe that the same level of quality is reflected in their support, customer service, and sales departments. I've had web services at a lot of places and I've never been as happy with a company as I am with RackShack. Of course, having the hardware that I have at only $100 a month makes it real easy to like. At the shell prompt it's just like the machine is here at my desk, and I'm in California. The ping times are so low that they're under the carpet.
