Don't go with NetNation (Vancouver, BC)

I just want to share with everyone the nightmare I am still going through with NetNation.com. First of all they are expensive and they have this tendency to charge you 40 to 50 dollars every time you want an upgrade or something installed.

When I told them (15 November) that I might switch host at the end of the month (30 November) because they were unable to give me more than one MySQL database, they put my website on hold for a day and I have lost many important e-mails.

Then, even though I paid until 30 November, they were claiming that it was finishing on 26 November and on the end of that day they shut down my website again. After many phone calls from the UK to Canada and dozens of e-mails and faxes to prove that even their bills were showing “End Date 30 November”, they finally reactivated my website assuring me that it would be online until the end of 30 November.

The next day (28 November), it was offline again. I freaked out, made all the calls again, they reactivated it. The next day (29 November), same story, shut down again. Today is 29 November and probably tomorrow it will be shut down again even though they told me it would be online until the end of 30 November.

Note that I have not received any emails since the first day they shut down my website (2 weeks ago!). And this is not down to my change of host because this has been initiated only 30 hours ago. I am now patiently waiting for the DNS settings to be registered worldwide to get rid of NetNation once and for all and finally get my emails again and my website online at all time.

Am I the only one who had trouble with Net Nation or is it like that with all their members? I would like to give them the benefit of the doubt, I was quite happy for the whole year I was with them, but as soon as I told them I might be leaving (and actually I decided at the time to stay with them), it all went wrong.

I suggest that if you want to leave Netnation, you don’t tell them until everything is sorted out with your new host and that 72 hours have passed since you changed your DNS settings. And if NetNation is responsible for changing those DNS settings for you, may whatever God you believe in help you!
