I downloaded the iso images for freeBSD and i followed the instructinos at http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/install-diff-media.html

the problem is that when i burned the ISO files onto the CD, my computer cannot recognize the CD at start up.

Do I have to do anything to the downloaded ISO file before burning it, or do i burn it right away onto a cd as it is downloaded ?

Hello,
In your burner software you will have a option to "Burn FROM image" you dont want to copy the ISO onto the CD, Thats no help. You want to burn from the image, :) IF you tell me what software you use, I can help

Thanks

Use Nero to burn from .iso

if you just burn the .iso to the cd, it wont do anything, as it acts sort of like a big zip file.
When you "burn image" it extracts from the iso and burnst the contents. Thats what you need.

Weird.. there were like 3 threads similair to this already lol

I think this is how you do it for Nero6.3
Go to a new compilation, click File - Open and it'll list the file types, make it so that it includes .ISOs and find the first FreeBSD ISO file, open it and you should see its contents being added to the compilation.

when i do what you said, it does not transfer the files, but instead when i select the first freeBSD iso file it goes directly to the burning process.

is that normal?

Yeah, that'll be the case :) I haven't used Nero in a while. Burn it that way. Sorry for confusing you!

My Way:

Open Nero

Goto CD-ROM(ISO) and then Start MultiSession Disk, Press New
Then goto Recoder > Burn Image, Select the image and it starts burning! :)

Joseph_M's way is fine too :P
Thanks
