Also do a search on these forums for "real server" or "real media". netsolutions 11-29-2001, 07:44 AM I went there and it was so complicated I couldn't figure out exactley what product I needed. bobcares 11-29-2001, 09:03 AM HI! Why not try pseudo streaming... This is possible without a real server. A real server is better because of the advantage of "bandwidth negotiation". i.e. the server can recognise the clients speed... Have a great day :) Regards amar XTStrike 11-29-2001, 09:26 AM I run a real player live stream, people connect to it via real player, or use "tara" which is a real player addon for winamp to save people downloading real player. I use a linux server running apache and redhat you install the linux "real server software" which comes as a demo with about 25 licenses for people to connect while you are testing it. Bear in mind that the server that is streaming needs to be a beast of a machine withy a fast connection (T1+) since it has to stream content out to users, you cannot use cable modems for streaming as the upload is far too slow. now you have the server setup you need to configure it to allow an inbound stream to connect. this is done through a simple web interface (the reason why you need apache) With all this setup you download and install "Real Producer" this is used to encrypt and assemble the real stream and upload it to the real server, it can be configured to upload video or sound or both to the real server. Start the stream and people can connect to the ip or dns name of the real server, select from the list of available streams and thats it, job done. hope this helps -XT netsolutions 11-29-2001, 09:47 AM Sounds complicated and expensive |
