Looks like an okay deal. A little cheaper than Dell but I would still go with Dell

p4's arn't meant to be servers. They won't perform as well as the PIII's

That's interesting. Why not?
Like jayglate said, the p4's are not as good for serving as the p3s. Additionallay, the p4's and rambus have had some major issues and are impart not going to live very long according to most people. The fact that the p3's are still around speaks for the entire issue andtherefore I wouldnt recommend going with one. You might as well get a p3 1ghz (or a dual p3 1ghz)... it should sitll run close to the same and for less money.

From what my vendors tell me, it has to do with the cache and the way the chip is designed. The new P4 chip coming out in a month or so, will be for servers and should be killer.
Intel Pentium 4, socket 478 (new)
Intel 845 chipset + SDRAM (!)

What is the Xeon like for a processor in a webserver?
Xeon's make for excellent server processors above and beyond the p3 or any amd chip, despite the differance in MHz speed (much better caching and other features).
