First sign up with a host and then locate the modify dns option and simply add the dns servers.
For example:
ns.xism.net (primary dns)
ns2.xism.net (secondary dns)
To change registrars you will have to pay a transfer fee.

thanks! Well your going ot have to pay the 29.95 for the domina so you can get access to changing the DNS. They will not do it for free domains. Sorry :( After you pay the 29.95 you will get the domain name in your name and be able to change the dns settings to point to a nameserver of the host you would like to sign up with.
http://www.namezero.com/services/index.shtml
Go there to learn more about that service.
There is NEVER a free lunch always got to be some catch ;)

when u sign up for hosting also talk with them about transferring the domain out of name zero
I will say this
there service is HORRIBLE!!!
slow as he**
email is usually 3-4 hours behind
tech support takes 2-3 weeks to answer if they even do.
And after your first year they charge a 35.95 renew fee every year which is bs.
Id transfer to a different registar.
like verycheapdomains.com or something

If you are paying for it and you are in the states I recommend you give them a call and see if you can get help directly.

I have a simple suggestion. If the name is important. Then just buy it. It's better late than never. Otherwise find a new name....
I'd suggest just pay for the past and transfer the domain to a new registrar such as directnic.com where you have control over your domain.
Have a great day :)
