I received a Equifax cert through GeoTrust earlier this year. No problems for me.

We got a cold call from these guys this week. $75.00/Quick SSL and $95/eBusiness. Not bad prices when you consider retail is $99 and $185 respectfully. We have been a Thatwe reseller for two and a half years now. They have been great. However, I am waiting for the day Verisign pollutes the pool. Once that happens, maybe Geotrust is a good change.

Verisign... that's why I would go with Geotrust over Thawte.

I recently bought 4 of thier quick certificates
and was impressed with how much easier the process
was than the last time I bought a thawte certificate.

With Thawte, last year I had to get a photocopy of the incorporation document for the company I was buying the certificate for. My client was not
happy about me pestering him for all of his
information and paperwork. It took almost 2 weeks
to get everything done.

This past summer, one of my clients insisted on
getting a verisign certificate. Once again, the
whole process took over a week due to the paperwork hassles of getting one of thier global certificates. Not to mention the cost was close
to $1,000 Canadian dollars

This fall, I went to Geotrust's web site, filled out the forms, and on the same day I had everything finished and installed on my RaQ4. In my experience, as long as my site visitors see that the padlock is in the locked position and they have an https connection, they don't bother to investigate where the certificate came from. For the price, it was a simple business desicion for me. For me, the more established brand name association of "verisign" or "thawte is not worth the extra money. I have seen no perceptible ROI after spending more money for a thawte or verisign certificate. So, from here on in, I'm going to buy the least expensive 128bit certificate that will do the job.

we set up our first dig cert 10 months ago with thawte and were impressed by the phone support and irritated by the demands for corporate info.

recently we have setup 4 certs with geotrust and must say they are very impressive and the product is only encryption. their's is as good as anyone's, at a given level of functionality.

on another note we have since had business problems with thawte and at the same time Never do we use nor could we recommend netsol or Verisign for ANYTHING.

I use Entrust now through OpenSRS/Tucows. But they are bad.. Average time to get a certificate is 6 days. I am now waiting for one for 15 days..

I signed up as a reseller today with GeoTrust.. I hope it goes well.\

Heya guys,

Well, I've been trawling the newsgroups and have noticed a few gripes about the documentation which is required, but it is an absolute requirement to ensure confidence and trust in online trading.

Ditching the requirement for a company to prove it is valid and legitimate is not a good idea and can lead to some tears, although I agree that if docs are required they should be processed quicker.

I do work for Thawte and have noticed the 'complaints' about the length of time it is taking to check the docs, and I will pass this info. on,
any info. which can help is good, thanks for the discussion.

What we aim to do is ensure the company is valid, and hopefully we will be able to get the idea across that this is a good thing, as clients need to know who they are dealing with.

Sorry for the long post
