My host is homestead. After building my site, for free, they told me I had to start paying or delete pages to a limit of 3. I deleted 2 pages and I now have 3. But they say I still have 5. There is a bug in their counter. They have locked me out. I cannot even view my site. They cannot be contacted unless I pay for the upgraded membership. Any ideas?

Unfortunately, I don't think you're going to get anywhere with them unless you ante up. "You get get what you pay for " is a maxim that seems to be particularly true with a commodity like web hosting.

Do you have a backup? If not, surely 5 pages wouldn't be too tough to recreate.

In any case, I would avoid free hosts like the plague. I've not been burned by one personally, but I know a couple of people who've watched their sites disappear as their free host went of business. I'd suggest going with a paid host that you've carefully research if your site is important to it. At the very least, the host would have some incentive to help you when things go bad...

Geocities is basically doing the same thing, automatically shutting your site off if it exceeds the alloted traffic. I know people who are severely affected by this.

I guess there is nothing much you can do in this matter. The best thing is to develop your own site and go ahead with it. Trust me it is as easy a drafting a letter in MS word.... :)

Develop your site and host with some good guys .....
