Hi en2,

One of the method is to use traceroute of the ip address or domain name. VisualRoute (http://visualroute.visualware.com/) does give you a good information.

I am using it to test my site URL and it shows the result including who is my ISP :D

<EDIT>AffordableHost has a good source and that site is very useful... thanks AffordableHost :)</EDIT>

Cheers!

Regards,
Choon

You can get a very useful tool called NeoTrace from http://www.neotrace.com, although it does cost a little. However, the cost is justified, as it has a plethora of tools, and will show you on a map where the IP address originates from...

Well recommended.

I like visualroute for showing where an IP address is located:

http://www.visualware.com/visualroute/index.html

Typically, I just do a whois on the IP agains whois.arin.net.

If it's not registered with arin, then it will tell you which registry to do a whois against.

But like affordablehost said, samspade i believe can do the same whois lookup for you, and you don't have to learn anything.

You can always go to http://www.arin.net and do a whois there.

Hi!
Goto http://www.network-tools.com
Enter the IP and see the results you'll get to know where it ends up.
The DNS records, answer records, authority records and so on. Then
complain to the authority record administrator....

I hope this helps.

Have a great day :)
