Hello,
We are currently researching the possibilities of offering our hosting companies "point and click" and web authoring software linked up to their hosting account. For example, something similar to the Geocities setup.
Does anyone have any recommendations / personal experiences in offering this feature?
Thanks in advance.

I don't know. Are you thinking of making your own software or are you going to use an affiliate scheme?
What market do you target?

I was thinking of something that's out-of-the-box as it were. No way are we going to be making our own ;)
We target small businesses and hobby sites, which makes this perfect for them.

Hmmm, I dunno - do small businesses have the technical whereabouts to even realise how doing that could help them?
I would maybe offer them a standard design on the cheap, from which they can pick maybe 5/6 designs from.

I don't want to do that though :)
oneandone do the same thing.
1) User picks a template
2) User enters title
3) User puts in front page text.
They don't need any technical knowledge.

Hello,
Thank you for the reply. I'm not sure you understand though.
I don't want to be an affiliate. I don't want to earn cash. I don't want to charge my customers.
I want to simply provide a tool similar to geocities do.

The actual term of what you looking for is a sitebuilder.. I have been looking to add that to our hosting services as well. I've searched hotscripts.com and didn't find anything I really liked. Take a look at http://www.dotlaunch.com/ , maybe you'll like it.

Look up trellix. They have a site building program, however I think it does cost a lot to get started. If you don't have substantial capital I think they license out the program to other companies that can onsell the the program to you and your customers for a fraction of the cost. I Can't think of any off the top of my head, but I think 1 or 2 frequent these boards.

Trellix now Interland is one of the best, invest in their solutions if you are serious about it :)

psoft's sitestudio is good and fairly cheap, although I wish they would make more templates for it. :D
