My RaQ3 is daily between 4:30AM and 9:00AM very low on memory. My machine has already 512MB Ram

Memory on the Cobalt server is heavily used.
The Cobalt server needs more memory than it currently has.
Consider adding more DRAM to the server.

Total memory is: 648904 KB
Used memory is: 635780 KB
Free memory is: 13124 KB
Percent used is: 97
:bawling:

Today MySQL and some other services shut down because of this

Any idea what this cause? I think it has something to do with the stats

How many sites do you have on this box?

I was considering upgrading a cobalt from 256 MB to 512, but if this kind of problems exists no matter how much memory is installed...:(

BTW, if you don't use the ASPs, shut'em down, you could get as much as 100 MBs back.

Hey, it may not be enough. A really large site can't be run on a RaQ, possibly even a single CPU PIII machine. Sometimes you outgrow a server appliance.

could also be a memory leak or a looping perl script or even a DoS?

i think we need more information from you as far as what you're running on the box. maybe post a TOP if you can so we can see what's up.

if you don't need asp, kill it. it stinks anyways. that will clear up some much needed ram.

also. check your apache & mysql config files.

i have a fairly large site on a raq4i w/512mb ram and with a little tweaking here and there with php, apache, & mysql it's been purring like a kitten ever since. you know, assuming RAQs can purr like a kitten and all.

It was the webstats program

I deleted all web.cache/web.cache.new log files (each file was 500MB+) and the problem is gone.
